A Mori Wedding

I've been talking here and there about Mori Girl fashion. On one of the main Mori Girl tumblrs, the topic of a Mori themed wedding was brought up.

This got me thinking, because I've been engaged since around February. I'm not comfortable with those cupcake white dresses, I don't like showing much skin so many of the backless dresses are out, and I don't much like white. So what is a girl who is interested in Mori fashion to do? Well, how about have a Mori wedding (or elopement rather)?

I ran it by Len, since even though every person in the world likes to make it seem as if it really is "the bride's day," in reality, two people are involved in a marriage - therefore two people are involved in a wedding. He's fine with it so long as he can wear stuff that is comfortable for him, which isn't mori, but isn't the complete opposite either.

Anyway~ onto the idea of a Mori wedding!

The Dress

The big thing about Mori is to be soft and flowy. On top of that, natural colors (though there is a lot of white also, so a white dress isn't off the map). I'm kind of on the short side (I don't think I'm even 5'4"), so I don't like draping dressings because they make me look stumpy. Longest I'll go is around the ankles, but I typically like things around knee-length like #2. Since Len and I would prefer eloping as opposed to having a big or even small wedding, we can be a bit more casual and laid back.

Also, with the exception of #6, all of these are under $200. People in the US generally spend around $26,000 on a wedding, it would be silly to spend that much on an elopement.

The Headpieces

Like a crown of flowers, but a bit more permanent. For the most part, (to me at least) these are all relatively easy to replicate, or make one of my own. Still haven't figured out what to do with my hair though, weather to keep it wavy and down or wear it up. But lucky me we're not getting married very soon so I have some time to mull over it.

I kind of went in every which direction for accessories. I guess it would just depend on the dress. I am kind of looking at some sort of fall/early spring wedding, so it would make sense that shawls would come into play.

Location

It's cool living in Oregon, it's like one of the ideal backdrops for a mori girl. Woodlands and forest almost everywhere. Len & I were sort of thinking about the coast, but we haven't set anything in stone yet. Pinterest has a lot of great examples and set ups for forest weddings too!

A Whole Bunch of Wants

I'm pretty sure a lot of other people have a huge folder of bookmarks of things they want or plan on buying in the future. I have one, and I'm pretty sure it has 300+ bookmarks in it. Ranging from household items to clothes, electronics, art prints, anything that suits my fancy. Here is a list of 15 things I currently want and will hopefully be able to buy soon.

1. White Demonia Creepers

I've been wanting creepers for a while, and it doesn't help that my high school friend Darian makes hers look so good. I've seen cheaper pairs of creepers, but they don't look anywhere as nice as the Demonia ones.

2. Skeleton-back Tanktop

I'm honestly not sure how I came across this skeleton tanktop, I was just jumping around on Etsy and came across it. Regardless, I definitely want to get my hands on one of my own. The seller has other awesome tanktops with different designed backs as well.

3. Kitty Mouse Brainz

I found this sweater from a photo on someone's Tumblr. I love everything about it; the fact that it is reminiscent of the older Mickey Mouse cartoons, how it's sort of twisted and dark yet kind of fun. There is a male version too, if I could ever convince Lenford to wear a pullover sweater I would definitely wear this over any other couple attire.

4. Butterfly Kisses

This is another item I found going down the Etsy rabbit hole. I've had the worst urge to purchase art prints from my favorite artists as well as newly discovered artists. I love the use of color and the blending involved in this and seriously want it on my wall or desk.

5. Love Together - Vintage Locket

I have this thing for lockets. So far, I've owned two of my own and they have either broke or started to tarnish. I really want another locket but I don't want to have the stereotypical photo of partners or anything like that. I like the style of these drawings and even if it doesn't look like Lenford and I, that's just fine with me. It's the idea of it all.

6. Suicide Sith Ghost Edition Print

Star Wars has never been a big thing for me. Growing up, I've always liked Star Trek for some reason. Maybe because there is just more to watch in comparison to what is now 6 full length films on the Star Wars side. Also, apart from the original three, I never want to watch any of the films if they came on TV. All that said, I LOVE this print. It just looks so cool and maybe, just maybe, I'll gain some extra nerd points by having something Star Wars related in my life.

7. Emily Girl Plush Messenge Bag

Another item I just stumbled across. It's really cute and I've been wanting a sort of cheeky bag to carry around lately.

8. Bodyline Shoes250

I had this bookmarked long before I had an interest in mori girl. But now that I do, these seem like the perfect boots to construct an outfit from. I need to find more things off of the Bodyline website though, as last I heard, their shipping has become a bit crazy.

9. Happy Birthday Reminder Necklace

In terms of jewelry, my two biggest collections are necklaces and earrings. I have so many of them. I don't keep bracelet as often because I use my hands a lot they just get in the way, and I don't have many rings because my sausage fingers just don't fit many of them. Anyway, I like small statement necklaces like the one above, and the star just makes me think of Sailor Mar's choker.

10. Japan Barbie Eye Princess Lace Black

It's been about a year since I've owned circle lenses. I've only had two pairs, a black pair and a green pair that were super uncomfortable. I preferred black anyway because the greens were just too unnatural and didn't even stand out that much. I hear such good things about Barbie lenses and I thought that the Lace versions were really cute.

11. Onch Movement Gold Man Pretzel

I found this through fellow blogger Oli's blog when she mentioned helping out a friend of her's for a show. Looking up said friend's website, I came across this adorable necklace. Also, pretzels remind me of New York so I figure it would be a nice reminder of where I spent so much time in.

12. iswasFoldable Shopper Bag

I found out about iswas from a blog post by Jenny at Sushi-Cat. Looking through their inventory, I thought this bag was pretty awesome. I like shopping bags, and this one is definitely pretty cute.

13. Rose Print Backpack - Brown

I just really want this for my mori closet. I like taking backpacks on full day outings, and the only one I have is a cotton candy pink one that can barely hold anything.

14. 2NE1 Ankle Socks (Clap Your Hands ver.)

Kpop ankle socks are definitely NOT a guilty pleasure of mine. Out of all the ones I have seen, this one is the cutest, and I want all of them (I normally just buy the pair with the member I like on it).

15. Blue Cat Cameo Earrings

If you're on Tumblr, you probably have seen the Sweetheart earrings made by the same person who made these. The Sweetheart earrings are cool, but I'm a sucker for cats and the color blue.

I'm hoping some of these stay in stock so I can end up purchasing them. Other than that, I've been learning to drive stick shift. Crap is it scary if you've never had any experience before! I've been doing alright, but still a bit rugged. I'm hoping I can get my license soon, but driving is still kind of scary for me.

I'm Back and Mori Girls

Finally! I'm back! It's been a really long hiatus, but there is a reason for that! For one, I moved back home to Oregon. After 15 straight years in NYC, I finally got burnt out and decided I needed a quiet and slower life.

So now I'm back home, in a small town with my grandparents. I love this little town, there aren't a ton of people, and I don't feel the need to go out all the time. I find myself sitting out in the backyard just taking in the peace and quiet and really enjoying it. It's really fun, my grandparents have 3 dogs who are not only sweet, but seriously hilarious.

This is one of the dogs - Jerry, a rat terrier.

He's the hyper one of the group, but also seriously loving.

I got myself a new camera (new to me anyhow), a Canon EOS Rebel XTi. Ever since I got here, I've been snapping away. Here are a few shots from around the house.

Other than that, life has been quiet for me. I'm taking a short break from working, as my hands are full with family related matters. So, even though I'm overwhelmed by that, I'm still trying to calm down and get back to the creative aspects I started off with.

I'm pretty sure I'm probably the last person on the planet to hear about Mori Girl. To learn about what Mori Girl, or Forest Girl, is, Bust wrote a very heartfelt article about the fashion trend.

Way before I knew what Mori Girl was, I loved the idea of it. I love nature, solitary activities, cozy clothing, and just the relaxed outlook on life. Now that I am finally aware of the fashion trend, I definitely want to hone my style closer to it. I dress cozy as it is, but mainly in a t-shirt and jeans as it's very low maintenance as well.

I have to admit though, the checklist is very overwhelming. I bolded everything that applies to me at the moment.

A lot of the unbolded ones, I just haven't tried yet. But I am willing to try. I thrift store shop primarily, so I plan on getting a large amount of my mori clothes from there as opposed to brand new clothing.

Under Construction~

Hi everyone,

It's been a loooooooong time. Needless to say, college really had me backed up in terms of a social life. Since nothing was really going on aside from school, I felt there wasn't much to blog about.

But now I'm all graduated and stuff, and basically living life. I'm moving back home to Oregon in a bit, and will have a lot of time on my hands.

I've got plans for this blog, lots of plans. I'd really like to get back into reviews (I had been doing film reviews on another blog, but after a while, the interest in films had waned), probably makeup and clothing, since it's still a passion of mine.

I also want to get back into blogging about life. I used to have so much to say before, and when college rolled around, my mind was just full of worrying about making it through the 4 years. Even though I'm going back home, I'm entering a new part of life. No one there really knows me, and probably don't remember me. I'm getting a redo, something I've been really needing lately.

If anyone feels that any of the ads here are a bit obtrusive, feel free to let me know. I try my best to keep the ads small and out of the way.

Anyway, I have to get back to putting this thing together. Bai~
